Dub Pistols 'Peaches ' The video clip “Peaches” (feat.
Rodney P & Terry Hall) on OC-TV.net. The London-based band Dub Pistols has released its third record in
2007: “Speakers and Tweeters”. And indeed, Barry Ashworth and Jason O’Bryan speak, even babble, in the company of Rodney P. in the video clip “Peaches”… « Peaches » is the third single extracted from « Speakers and Tweeters » : and as always, interesting videos are the result of rich collaborations. For the sound, Rodney P as a guest, one of the most famous English rappers, with an impressive career ; and for the visual part, Dan Lowe, young director who began by photography, already noticed by his colleagues (he has been nominated this year at the CADs of London in the categories of best new director and best low-budget video-clip director).

Painter and photographer, Marilyn Minter caught Diane Arbus’s attention and support at the University of Florida when she was a student. Her work is based on the commercial representations of femininity as well as the notions of desire and repulsion. She corrupts glamour aesthetics in getting the closest as possible to her subjects, creating a disturbing visual abstraction, in which food, make-up, mud and fashion walk hand in hand. Fascinating.

More than a simple fortuitous encounter, The John Venture offers a real fusion. A mad project that gathers two bands from Saint Etienne, Angil & the Hiddentracks on the one hand and Broadway on the other hand. The rule? To write, record, and mix one song per day without re-working it on the following day.
The result? A record that destroys the musical boundaries between folk, electronic music and hip-hop, a perfect mixture between Angil’s high and strong voice and the skilled jazzy electro hip-hop of Broadway. Interview. http://www.myspace.com/thejohnventure

From the Locomotive d’or to the Chèvrefeuille barge of the Convivencia Festival, the loud voices and undulating melodies, colored brasses and hair-raising guitars of the Super Rail Band from Bamako travel from swamp blues to urban mandingue rock. This band of the Buffet-Hotel of Bamako station, will be to modern mandingue music what E.T.Mensah were to high-life (Ghana), Mahlathini to mbaqanga (South Africa) or I.K. Dairo to juju music (Nigeria). Its successive singers – the most famous in the West are Salif Keita and Mory Kanté – have been the undisputed superstars of the Malian scene until the birth of Wassoulou music in the nineties.
